Risk Factors Of Workplace Accidents In Furniture Workers In Samadua District, South Aceh Regency In 2018

In Samadua District, there are 27 furniture industries where on average each furniture consists of 2 to 4 workers. Based on a survey conducted, out of 10 workers surveyed, 4 had experienced injuries due to incorrect use of machines when cutting wood, 6 workers had been hit by wood which caused head, hand and foot injuries. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors for work accidents in furniture workers in Samadua District, South Aceh Regency. This research method uses an analytical survey research type with a cross-sectional research design. The population of this study was 108 furniture workers and the minimum number of samples required in this study was 52 people. The analysis of this study used the chi-square test. Based on the results of the study, it is known that knowledge (P.Value = 0.014 <α = 0.05), work period value (P.Value = 0.027 <α = 0.05) use of personal protective equipment (P.Value = 0.006 α = 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between knowledge, work period, and use of personal protective equipment with work accidents in furniture workers in Samadua District, South Aceh Regency. It is recommended to the South Aceh Regency Manpower Office to provide Occupational Safety and Health (K3) training to workers in furniture workers which is also accompanied by the implementation of a health promotion program by the South Aceh Regency Health Office on K3 which aims to improve the knowledge of furniture workers about occupational safety and health.
